The Baltimore Ravens signed Austin Reed to their practice squad on Monday, November 2, 2026. The team made the announcement following a defeat against the Buffalo Bills that left them short on healthy options at quarterback.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson requires surgery for a thumb injury. This procedure will place him on Injured Reserve, ruling him out for at least four games. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley also suffered a turf toe injury, keeping him out of action for several weeks.
Rookie Joe Fagnano stepped in to start the game against the Bills. It was his first appearance in the National Football League. The Ravens management moved quickly to secure additional personnel before facing the Jacksonville Jaguars next Thursday.
Reed is 26 years old. He played for the Dallas Renegades in the UFL this season. The player completed parts of the pre-season with Baltimore, which should help him adjust to the offensive system without a long learning curve.
The team released fullback Lucas Scott to create a roster spot for Reed. This transaction ensures the franchise maintains adequate depth at the quarterback position while Jackson recovers from surgery.
