A woman diagnosed with Ebola in Nigeria's capital last week was transported on a medical evacuation flight to Switzerland on Monday. Questions remain about how she may have contracted the virus while visiting Uganda.

Meanwhile, a health-care worker in the Democratic Republic of Congo was killed and another was severely injured after being attacked while responding to an Ebola alert. This attack is one of several that have hampered efforts to slow the outbreak.

The Democratic Republic of Congo's Health Ministry reports that more than 9,800 cases, including more than 4,700 deaths, have been recorded since the start of the outbreak in May. This makes it the deadliest Ebola outbreak in the country's history.

A nurse was killed and a health worker severely injured after being attacked while responding to an Ebola alert in the D.R.C. This is the latest in a series of attacks on health workers that have been hampering efforts to control the outbreak.

The attack took place in the town of Bafwasende in the eastern Tshopo province. The World Health Organization's director general condemned the attack, calling for an end to misinformation and fear that fuel violence.

Nigerian authorities said they had yet to establish how the woman contracted the virus. The woman tested positive after returning to Abuja from Uganda.

The woman was medically evacuated to Switzerland with her husband on Monday. She had been in the capital, Abuja, and her condition had improved significantly.

The Swiss woman being treated for Ebola in Nigeria was medically evacuated to Switzerland with her husband on Monday. Nigerian authorities continued monitoring 52 people who had been in contact with her.

The woman's condition had improved significantly, and she was stable, conscious, and able to communicate. However, she was still infectious, and strict protocols were in place.

The evacuation was arranged because the couple are Swiss citizens. Nigerian medical teams had stabilized the woman after treating her through the acute phase of the illness.

The woman was released from quarantine after 21 days without developing Ebola symptoms. Kenya has reported nine Ebola cases so far, with two deaths.

The director general of Kenya's Health Ministry said the release is a milestone worth celebrating. He urged Kenyans to welcome those leaving quarantine home and warned that vigilance is still needed.
