The Yellowstone franchise continues to expand its television footprint, with Paramount+ confirming that the second season of Dutton Ranch will move into production in early 2027. This timeline follows the official renewal of the series announced in June 2026, ensuring that the story of Beth and Dutton will return after a brief hiatus.

The first season of Dutton Ranch achieved strong viewership numbers that justified the renewal. According to a Paramount+ press release, the show accumulated 12.9 million viewers globally in the seven days following its premiere. This performance marked the largest original series launch in the platform's history. On cable, the two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, 2026, drew 2.9 million total viewers. The premiere telecast alone captured 1.85 million viewers, ranking as the number one cable entertainment program among adults 18-49 and total viewers.

Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios, praised the show's performance in a statement. He noted that Dutton Ranch resonated with audiences by building on established characters while creating a distinct identity. Thunell thanked partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for the successful first season and expressed anticipation for future stories from the cast.

Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, discussed the upcoming work schedule with The Hollywood Reporter in July. She stated that filming is slated to begin in early 2027. Reilly explained that the writing room will activate quickly, with the next six months dedicated to developing the scripts for the new season. This process aims to keep the production on track for a 2027 premiere rather than delaying the release to 2028.

The series will undergo a leadership change as it enters its second year. Benjamin Cavell has joined the team as the new showrunner. He takes over from Chad Feehan, who departed the project three weeks before the first season premiered. The change in direction occurs as the show prepares to continue the narratives of Beth, Rip, and Carter.

Cole Hauser, who portrays Rip, remains attached to the project despite rumors of a feud with creator Taylor Sheridan. Hauser serves as an executive producer on the series, which was written specifically to follow his character's arc alongside Reilly's. Fans have expressed concern over his potential exit, but his continued involvement suggests he will remain a central figure in the second season.

The timing of Dutton Ranch Season 2 coincides with the ongoing run of the sibling spinoff Marshals. Luke Grimes, who stars in Marshals, confirmed that Beth and Rip will not appear in the current season of his show. However, he indicated that a crossover between the two series remains a possibility in the future. Grimes told TV Insider that a crossover is not out of the question, citing the close familial bond between Beth and Kayce.

Grimes added that he and Reilly have discussed the idea extensively via text. He described a crossover as fun and necessary for their respective story arcs. Ash Santos, who stars in Marshals, echoed this sentiment, agreeing that a reunion between the siblings would be compelling for fans. Both actors emphasized the interesting brother-sister dynamic that would form the basis of any potential meeting.

Viewers can currently stream the first season of Dutton Ranch on Paramount+. The platform offers an ad-supported Essential plan for $8.99 per month and an ad-free Premium plan for $13.99 per month. The Premium plan includes access to Showtime titles and live CBS programming. A seven-day free trial is available for new subscribers to the Premium tier.
