Ashley Randow, who runs Warrior Soccer Training in White Marsh, is launching a new mentorship initiative called the Whole Player Project in January 2027. The program targets female soccer players between the ages of 12 and 18 who face mounting pressure as the sport expands.
Randow noted that while premier leagues now provide girls with more opportunities, the expectations have not matched. She explained that young players are often asked to meet the same standards as college and professional athletes. Her goal is to support these athletes in reaching their peak performance while also building their character and integrity.
The 12-month curriculum assigns a specific topic to each month. Subjects will include identity, confidence, and how to handle setbacks and failures. Participants will also engage with a Division I college player who is currently dealing with similar pressures.
Current trainees at Randow's facility described the mental challenges they face. Addison cited confidence as her biggest hurdle. Bella said she struggles not to disappoint others and faces frequent mental setbacks. Chelsea mentioned the difficulty of maintaining confidence after making mistakes during games or practice.
The athletes also shared their professional aspirations. Elyse, a player in Randow's group, stated she wants to join the Washington Spirit. Randow said the program aims to provide the tools needed to achieve such goals by developing the person behind the player.
The program offers two participation options. A digital version costs 40 dollars per month, while the in-person format costs 150 dollars per month. Applications for the first group of participants remain open until November 12.
Elyse Deleyer, an athlete in the program, said the best feeling on the field is feeling valuable. She credited Randow with helping her achieve that sense of worth.
