Prince George's County police responded to two separate shooting incidents Tuesday that left two people dead and a third in critical condition.

Officers arrived at the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park just before 2 a.m. to find two young women with gunshot wounds. One teen died at the scene while the other was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Detectives stated they do not believe the shooting was random and are currently searching for a suspect.

Around 12:25 p.m., officers responded to an apartment on the 1900 block of Belle Haven Drive where they found a man with gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The department is working to identify suspects and determine a motive for this second incident.

These deaths extend a violent week in the county, which has seen at least seven people killed since Oct. 27. Four of those deaths occurred on Thursday, Oct. 29. The pattern of violence has prompted officials to emphasize the human toll of the recent surge.

Chief George Nader addressed the community in a Thursday release, noting that even one murder is too many. He stated the department will not lose sight of the human cost of violence as investigations continue into the Tuesday incidents.
