A cold front crossing Colorado on Friday, October 23, will slash high temperatures in Pueblo by 30 degrees over the next 48 hours.
The city recorded a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52 on Friday. By Saturday, the high will reach only the 50s. This drop follows a morning in the 50s with cloud breaks that allowed afternoon warming before the front arrived from the west.
Rain chances in Pueblo are low on Friday, standing between 10% and 20% on the south side of the city. Precipitation becomes more likely during the weekend. Along Interstate 25, sunshine emerged around 10 a.m. as morning clouds cleared. The advancing front supports thunderstorms farther east and a few storms along the southern portion of the interstate.
Colorado Springs sees a high of 73 degrees and a low of 47 degrees. Canon City may see afternoon showers with a 20% to 30% chance of rain, a high of 75 degrees, and a low of 49 degrees. Woodland Park is forecast to hit 58 degrees with a low of 39 degrees, while Monument and the Tri-Lakes area will reach 69 degrees with a low of 43 degrees.
Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74 degrees, respectively, with lows of 49 degrees. Friday is their warmest day in the coming week. The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start. Afternoon temperatures there will be in the 70s and 80s, with lows in the 50s. Mountain highs will stay in the 60s with lows in the 30s.
Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede. Conditions are expected to become calmer next week with sunshine and temperatures warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook calls for dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, though that forecast could change.
