Gal Gadot traveled from Los Angeles to cast a ballot in the Israeli Knesset election on Tuesday morning. She joined an estimated 70,000 or more Israeli citizens living abroad who returned to the country to vote. Gadot documented the process on Instagram, showing herself entering a polling station and selecting an envelope before stepping into a voting booth.
In the video, the actress spoke in Hebrew about exercising her democratic right. She urged followers to vote for the candidates they believed in, describing the act as a fundamental civic duty. Gadot invoked the Hebrew phrase pa'amim ki tov, a reference to a biblical double blessing associated with the third day of the week. She expressed hope that the election results would bring good outcomes for all citizens.
Her return to Israel included a formal ceremony on Monday at Bar Ilan University. The institution granted her an honorary doctorate during a gala celebrating its 70th anniversary. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also received an honorary doctorate at the same event. Gadot used the platform to address the current political climate and the challenges facing Jewish communities globally.
During her acceptance remarks, Gadot noted that antisemitism remains a persistent issue that is not expected to disappear. She discussed the disconnect between her personal connection to Israel and external portrayals of the country. "No matter how far I travel, Israel's always my home. These are my people, my family," she said. She characterized the upcoming election as potentially the most consequential in the nation's history.
Gadot described the vote as a moment for citizens to demonstrate responsibility toward their country. She emphasized the importance of using this civic right according to individual beliefs. Her appearance at the university marked the first public event of her trip, preceding her voting day activities.
The actress lives primarily in Los Angeles with her husband, Jaron Varsano, and their four daughters. She is originally from Rosh HaAyin in Israel. After voting on Tuesday, she is scheduled to appear on the comedy show Eretz Nehederet, known in English as Wonderful Country, on Tuesday night.
In film, Gadot is currently featured in the Prime Video thriller The Runner. She is also set to star in the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, titled Fast Forever. Her public schedule combines high-profile entertainment work with civic engagement in Israeli politics.
