Gov. Kathy Hochul told rapper Nicki Minaj to get offline Wednesday.
The exchange added a high-profile conflict to the closing days of the New York gubernatorial race.
Minaj, a vocal backer of former President Donald Trump, posted a message attacking Hochul online.
She called the governor an evil woman and suggested the Democratic Party should forfeit her seat.
Minaj wrote that Hochul would be of great consequence to the party if she won.
The rapper accused Hochul of keeping horrible company and failing to condemn wrongdoing.
Hochul addressed the comments while campaigning in Albany.
She said Minaj should get outside and get offline a little more.
Hochul added that Minaj should stop going to Trump rallies because it is poisoning her mind.
Minaj appeared at a Trump rally in Michigan earlier this week.
She has publicly urged young voters to vote red in the upcoming election.
Minaj endorsed Hochul during the 2018 lieutenant governor campaign for the Democratic ticket. The clash is part of the final push toward Election Day. Hochul and Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman are both active on the trail. Recent polling shows Hochul holding a double-digit lead. Blakeman is on a statewide tour focused on energizing Republican voters.
